Why am I being asked to verify my identity?
Chevron Down
Identity verification is part of a new step in Amazon's hiring process designed to ensure fair and secure access to job opportunities. We've introduced this step to confirm that every applicant is a real person and the rightful owner of the identity information they provide. This helps protect the integrity of our recruitment process and legitimate job seekers like you from fraudulent activity that has made it harder to access available shifts. Your selfie will only be used for identity verification purposes.
Why do I need to take a selfie?
Chevron Down
The selfie is used as a liveness check — it confirms that a real person is physically present during the application, rather than an automated system. Your selfie is also compared to the photo on your government-issued ID to verify that you are the legitimate owner of the identity you've provided. This step takes only a few seconds, helps keep the hiring process fair for everyone, and eliminates the need for an in-person identity check.
Why do I need to upload a government-issued ID?
Chevron Down
A valid government-issued photo ID (such as a provincial driver's license, passport) is required to verify your identity. The system checks that your ID is authentic and that the name and photo match the information you provided in your application. This ensures that only verified individuals can apply for positions, protecting you and other candidates from identity misuse.
Will I know whether I passed or failed the identity verification?
Chevron Down
No. Once you've completed the verification step, you will see a confirmation message ("We have received your info securely. Thank you.") and can continue with your application. The system does not display a pass or fail result to you. If additional action is ever required, the appropriate team will contact you directly.
Will this stop me from applying?
Chevron Down
No. During this phase, completing the verification step allows you to continue with your application regardless of the outcome. Your application will proceed through the standard hiring steps including assessment, contingent offer, and onboarding as normal, no matter what the result of identity verification is.
